Welcome to Our Website

High Melton Parish Council is central to local activity in our community. We are volunteers who have been elected to  give our  residents an opportunity to get involved in local affairs and campaigns, and encourage them to make their views known,

What We Do

An important role of your parish council is to make other public bodies, like Doncaster
Council, aware of the views of our
communities. We work closely with them so that they can take on board your concerns.

Around our Village

Our lovely village is situated in the heart of South Yorkshire and has commanding views over the Dearne Valley.  Ours is a rural community that has only slightly expanded in recent times. As a settlement we were mentioned in the Domesday Book. We have an exciting future with the opening of film and television studios on the old college campus site

  • St. James Church

Our church has Saxon origins but the main part of the existing building was established about 1100 AD and handed over to Avice de Tania in 1153 AD to be put under the care of the Cistercian nuns at Hampole

  • The Ice House

One of the country's earliest examples of a structure designed to keep edibles and refreshments cool, a testament to the innovation displayed by our ancestors in the age before electricity.

Where are we? We have some excellent walks and are close to places of interest such as Conisborough Castle, Brodsworth Hall and Cusworth Hall . see map
